In email marketing world, most of the marketers’ efforts are concentrated on drafting a mail that does not end up in someone’s spam folder. Therefore, in this unpredictive world you can craft the ideal subject line, creative copy and an ideal offer, but the campaign is expected to fall short if you do not have enough active email addresses.
How can we expand our email list?
This is the basic question that lingers within the mind of the data and marketing team. Many testers have used and recommended the technique of subscribing to receive newsletter, as a method to increase number of email addresses. But if you are seriously thinking of developing a new, sizzling database of email addresses, then you have to break the pre-historic email marketing rules:
Rule # 1
Pop-ups Out, Pop-Overs In
Gone are the days when those sleazy little things used to crawl any webpage you visited asking you to sign up and impossible to remove without a CTR-ALT_DEL reboot. This age is of sleek pop-overs. Well they are more sophisticated, less intrusive form of boxes asking visitors of their interest in signing up. Guess what, they are even customizable!!
Rule #2
Beware Of Double Opt-Ins
They are crazy bit of marketing weapon that would require you to click a link in an email that you we have received before being confirmed and added to the list. It does create a hurdle when most of the mails sent for confirmation did not reach the recipient mail box. Rather opt for saying a thank you email to new subscribers. Sounds good!!
Rule # 3
Take Due Permission
CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 the first national standards for the sending commercial email in the U.S. — is that you need permission before sending an email to someone. While the laws in some countries, are changing to require permission, it is still legal to send emails in the U.S. without explicit consent from the recipient.
Don’t Stop, Break Out!!
We in the rage of pressure always look for new opportunities, have it ever occurred to you that a little tweaking and threading the old practices can bring dramatic changes. Think about that and till then keep blogging.
